I purchased two units off plan in Bulgaria whilst attending an MRI Property Exhibitions show at Leopardstown Racecourse, Dublin. The advertisement I viewed on T.V before I went to the show implied that there would be a variety of real estate companies participating from different countries.

I met a guy called Johnathon Adams, who promised big capital gains, and a lot of rentals with golf views, and where MRI residents could play golf. I transferred 110,000 euro plus costs for two small ski apartments in Razlog, Bansko region. This money I paid to Martinez-Echeveria Solicitors.

A few weeks later I got some more calls from Johnathon and he said Romania was the next hot place, and that I should really consider. I bought a place there for 80k euro plus costs, just on his word that it will be a good investment. About a year later after the deposits and the pre-agreements signed he said that the developer is after already selling my apartment and that he has one left I could buy one floor higher for 89k euro plus costs (MRI effectively double-sold the same apartment).

Bulgaria and Romania were both late in coming onto the market, and they wanted full payment before Act/ Section 16 was passed.

I had an independent snagger as I didn't trust them to snag fully. I was present in Bansko when my independent snagger, gave the list to the MRI snagger and his words- ‘you’re giving me too much work to do’.

They regularly email me, call me asking me about buying furniture, rental fee programs, insurance, property management, bookings.com website fee, I don't answer the phone anymore.

Their promises in Bansko never materialised as it’s so oversaturated with excessive properties and no one wants to stay 6km from the ski run, when there are many homes on the ski-run.

MRI residents aren't allowed to play golf on the Pirin Golf Course and we don't have the view we were promised.

I've had no rentals here. Romania I was lucky because I purchased my furniture from an independent furniture company other that MRI, and I’ve had this unit rented out for 6 months no complaints on the Romania unit.

Have to say I'll never give MRI another penny as they failed to deliver on their promises. From all the stories going around on the internet "Naughty MRI" on youtube etc, looks like I got off lucky.
