A most harrowing purchasing process
I went on an MRI sales trip to Turkey in November 2005 and I believe was mis-sold an apartment on Flamingo Country Club. MRI adopted a range of dubious tactics about multiple purchases. Their Sales Manager (John Triton) gave us inaccurate information. We were told there would be no other development and we were buying into a 5 star complex with Lake Views and exclusive rights to the private beach. Subsequently five other developments appeared that were obviously in the pipeline in Nov 2005, turning the place into a concrete jungle and all sharing our beach and amenities.
We were told by MRI Sales Staff that the complex had free amenities and subsequently found this is not true.
We were told by MRI Sales Staff that the fish farm a hundred meters from the beach area, which discharges pollutants into the water, was set aside for watersports and swimming and would be moved prior to habitation. This is not true.
We were introduced to 'independent' lawyers by MRI Sales Staff whose client bank was totally reliant on MRI Sales Staff referrals in Bodrum.
MRI Sales Staff were extremely slick and clever in their sales tactics. We even thought we were purchasing from them. It took a long time to realise that the contract was with the developer Artev and MRI Construction who were just estate agents.
I tried to cancel my contract many times for various reasons and there was just no way out. The saga of mis-selling that started in 2005 has continued through to the most harrowing purchasing process anyone could imagine and there seems no end to it. I am afraid I could write a book about the last 4 years but it clearly started with MRI Construction, which led to the lawyers and the developers who are all on one side and the unsuspecting purchasers on the other.
Thankfully I did not fall for their furniture packs or After Sales. We watched with horror as the furniture was delivered when we were one of the first to stay on Flamingo and it was a truly disgraceful package.
