The founder and top executives behind former holiday home giant MRI face legal action in Spain after hundreds of Britons allegedly lost money estimated to amount to £13million.

Dubliner Darragh MacAnthony, who owns Peterborough Football Club, which has just won promotion to the Championship, set up MacAnthony Realty International (MRI) in Marbella as the Millennium began.

May may have read about Darragh MacAnthony’s magnanimous offer to support a local Charity – The Helping Hands Group, has been seen by many as just a cynical ploy to up his image in the shadow of his failing property empire, MacAnthony Realty International.

The Posh website reports how the Helping Hands Group will provide many advantage, training and activities to disabled people in the Peterborough area.  However, closer examination with Companies House in England reveals that it is not a ‘Charity’ at all but just another profit making company.  If you accept that companies can make valuable contributions to charitable works but when Darragh MacAnthony becomes involved it does raise some worrying questions.

MRISG Protest London January 4th, 2011

The MRISG held their first protest in London yesterday (2011.01.04) to publicly protest about the abuse of the legal system by Carter-Ruck Lawyers (www.carter-ruck.com) and the scams pulled off by Darragh MacAnthony’s company MacAnthony Realty International.  The marchers handed a petition in at No 10 Downing Street containing 800 signatures demanding that the UK Government do something to prevent companies like MRI repeating international scams in the future.
